Summary of the role/position

We are seeking to appoint a new Lecturer with a particular focus on colonial/post-colonial history. You will have expertise in an aspect of the global history of colonialism/postcolonialism. We particularly encourage applicants whose research or teaching may have a transnational, comparative and non-elite component, preferably with expertise in Asia, Africa or South America. The ability to engage critically with postcolonial heritage contexts may also be an advantage.

We have a diverse range of scholars within the Department of Humanities at the Penryn Campus and the appointee will be comfortable working and teaching across traditional disciplinary boundaries. At undergraduate level you will be asked to develop a teaching portfolio built around your research expertise, and to contribute to jointly taught modules at first-year. The appointee may also be asked to make a significant contribution to the MA International Heritage Management and Consultancy.

For a Lecturer post you will have:

-A PhD or equivalent in history, or a related area such as post-colonial studies, and have an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in a relevant active field of research

-An active approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research

-Enthusiasm for delivering high quality undergraduate programmes

-Strong connections and funded projects with business and community partners
