{"id":1488,"date":"2017-04-27T11:57:37","date_gmt":"2017-04-27T10:57:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/francophone.port.ac.uk\/?p=1488"},"modified":"2017-04-27T11:57:37","modified_gmt":"2017-04-27T10:57:37","slug":"call-for-papers-amnesty-to-counter-insurgency-conference-university-of-warwick-14-15-june-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/francophone.port.ac.uk\/?p=1488","title":{"rendered":"Call for Papers: Amnesty to Counter Insurgency conference, University of Warwick, 14-15 June 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Spreading the word on a major new conference hosted by the University of Warwick, find the full document on their <a href=\"https:\/\/imperialglobalexeter.com\/2017\/04\/27\/cfp-understanding-insurgencies-1920-2000\/#more-4708\" rel=\"home\">Imperial &amp; Global Forum<\/a>\u00a0blog;<\/p>\n<p>This workshop is part of a Leverhulme Trust Research Network on <strong><em>Understanding Insurgencies: Resonances from the Colonial Past. <\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Led by the <a href=\"http:\/\/humanities.exeter.ac.uk\/history\/research\/centres\/warstateandsociety\/\">University of Exeter\u2019s Centre for War, State and Society<\/a>, other collaborators in this international network are the University of Warwick, University of Oxford, the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) Paris, University of Glasgow, Universite de Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al, and KITLV Institute Leiden.<em>\u00a0<\/em>The network is funded by the Leverhulme Trust to stage a series of workshops and conferences over a three-year period, (commencing June 2016), and leading to publications.<\/p>\n<p>The theme of this sixth workshop in the <strong><em>Understanding Insurgencies<\/em><\/strong> series is <em>\u2018Amnesty to Counter Insurgency\u2019<\/em>. The intention is to examine the manner in which amnesties have been used to bring about temporary cease-fires during counter-insurgency campaigns, to induce surrenders or the ending of hostilities that will bring conflict to an end, or as a means of engaging political discourse in order to generate a negotiated peace.
