{"id":2342,"date":"2019-09-04T10:54:20","date_gmt":"2019-09-04T09:54:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/francophone.port.ac.uk\/?p=2342"},"modified":"2019-10-22T10:34:47","modified_gmt":"2019-10-22T09:34:47","slug":"the-rwandan-debacle-disguising-poverty-as-an-economic-miracle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/francophone.port.ac.uk\/?p=2342","title":{"rendered":"The Rwandan Debacle: Disguising Poverty as an Economic Miracle"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Recently the Financial Times published an investigation carried out by their&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>d<\/strong><strong>ata&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>a<\/strong><strong>nalysis team, which confirm<\/strong><strong>ed<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;the findings that have been published on&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>roape.net<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>on poverty in Rwanda over several years.&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>Of all the countries in the world for which there is data, only South Sudan has experienced a faster increase in poverty over the past decade. Rwanda\u2019s official poverty statistics are verifiably false. The government, supported by the World Bank, is involved in a tragic debacle in which the poor are the real victims.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On 13 August 13 2019, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/683047ac-b857-11e9-96bd-8e884d3ea203\">Financial Times published<\/a>&nbsp;a lengthy investigation carried out by their data analysis team, which confirmed the findings that had been published on roape.net by several academics, regarding poverty in Rwanda.
