{"id":2383,"date":"2019-10-14T10:03:41","date_gmt":"2019-10-14T09:03:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/francophone.port.ac.uk\/?p=2383"},"modified":"2019-10-22T16:48:16","modified_gmt":"2019-10-22T15:48:16","slug":"burkina-faso-mosque-attack-kills-15-worshippers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/francophone.port.ac.uk\/?p=2383","title":{"rendered":"Burkina Faso mosque attack kills 15 worshippers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>At least 15 people have been killed and two seriously injured in an attack on a mosque in northern Burkina Faso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gunmen entered the Grand Mosque in the village of Salmossi on Friday evening as those inside were praying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The attack prompted many locals to flee the village which is close to the Malian border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hundreds of people have been killed in the country over the past few years, mostly by jihadist groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One resident from the nearby town of Gorom-Gorom told AFP news agency: &#8220;Since this morning, people have started to flee the area.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that there was a &#8220;climate of panic despite military reinforcements&#8221; put in place following the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No group has admitted carrying out the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read more on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/world-africa-50028315\"><strong>BBC Africa<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At least 15 people have been killed and two seriously injured in an attack on a mosque in northern Burkina Faso.
