{"id":531,"date":"2015-02-19T12:01:18","date_gmt":"2015-02-19T12:01:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/francophone.port.ac.uk\/?p=531"},"modified":"2015-02-19T12:01:18","modified_gmt":"2015-02-19T12:01:18","slug":"ma-by-research-mres-african-studies-at-the-university-of-portsmouth-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/francophone.port.ac.uk\/?p=531","title":{"rendered":"MA by Research (MRes) African Studies at the University of Portsmouth (UK)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are now recruiting for September 2015 entry (full or part time)\u00a0on\u00a0the MA by Research (MRes) African Studies programme at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.port.ac.uk\/faculty-of-humanities-and-social-sciences\/courses\/\">University of Portsmouth.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Internationally-recognised staff teaching on the course include\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.port.ac.uk\/centre-for-european-and-international-studies-research\/members\/professor-tony-chafer.html\">Tony Chafer<\/a>, a leading specialist on France&#8217;s colonial and post-colonial\u00a0relations with sub-Saharan Francophone Africa, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.port.ac.uk\/school-of-languages-and-area-studies\/staff\/dr-natalya-vince.html\">Natalya Vince<\/a>, a\u00a0leading specialist on Algerian history and Franco-Algerian relations.\u00a0The teaching team has developed excellent links with the universities of<br \/>\nAlgiers and Dakar and also with the Ecole Normale (teacher-training\u00a0college) in Algiers.<\/p>\n<div>All students on the course will take a 30-credit module entitled France and Africa:\u00a0Decolonisation and Post-Colonial Relations. They will also do a 60-credit Research\u00a0Methods programme and a 90-credit dissertation. Students on the course will be\u00a0encouraged to undertake a placement in Senegal as part of the programme.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The course is likely to appeal to students from a wide variety of disciplines,\u00a0including languages and area studies, history, politics and development studies.\u00a0French language is NOT a course requirement.
